15 years! In fifteen years, we have experienced joy, heartache, and everything in between. Through all of the ups and downs, we think that fifteen years of The Raining Season is a big deal, so we wanted to continue our celebration. Last week, we reflected, and this week, we have a message from our In-Country Director, Sorie Kamara, to share with you.
Sorie joined The Raining Season staff in February 2013 as a Finance Assistant. In 2014, Sorie was promoted to Finance Manager at The Covering. His hard work and dedication led him to be named Director of the Covering in May 2018, where he continues to serve today. He oversees the daily operations of The Covering, in addition to the finances. We are so grateful for Sorie's gentle spirit, leadership, and knowledge. Not only is Sorie highly skilled, but he remains humble in the Lord's direction for him. We are grateful that Sorie has been part of The Raining Season's story for nearly twelve years and the instrumental role he has played in its success.
From Sorie:
"We are celebrating 15 years of ministry services; it is important to understand that our story is not really about us but God's faithfulness to these children and the families we served. Psalm 115:1 says, "Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to your name be the glory, because of your love and your faithfulness!"
For over eleven years, I've advanced through leadership roles at The Raining Season (TRS), a care center that transforms the lives of more than 100 vulnerable children and young adults in Sierra Leone. As Country Director, I have witnessed and seen lives being transformed over the years, children who came in as vulnerable babies and toddlers have grown into young teenagers and adults pursuing their lifelong dreams through education and other trade schools and ready to be the change maker in society.
Throughout this period, many wonderful staff have come and gone, and some are still upholding the call for serving these children till today. Their contributions in the growth and sustainability of this organization cannot be overemphasized. All we can say is thank you all for being the hands and feet of Jesus.
To our amazing sponsors and supporters, it would have not been possible for us to do this job without your support. You have poured out heart and love towards these children and the organization as a whole. Anytime I feel like I want to give up, your love and care that you have shown across the ocean will energize me to do more. These fifteen years would not have been possible without you. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
There is more work to do, and we are ready for the next chapters of TRS to rescue, to empower, and to restore with God as our help."
Praise God for FIFTEEN years of TRS and an incredible staff that has loved and cared for the kids beyond imaginable belief! Our work in Sierra Leone is far from done. We look forward to new beginnings, new adventures, and new milestones during the next fifteen years. So, from the very bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to all of YOU! We look forward to serving alongside you in the next fifteen years.
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
