The Covering's Well

The Raining Season

As we celebrated World Water Day this past week, we reflect on how far we've come in ensuring access to clean, safe water for the children and staff at The Covering. In May 2018, a well was dug and dedicated on our property, providing not only a vital resource but also an answer to prayer. This well has been a blessing for nearly seven years, making a life-changing impact on the daily lives of those in our care.

Before the well, access to running water was limited, and clean water was even more so. The Raining Season often relied on water fetched from a nearby stream, which was neither convenient nor clean. However, with the new well located in the side yard near the garden area, our children and staff now have access to clean water on site. This has been an incredible improvement, making day-to-day operations much easier for everyone at The Covering.

Freetown sits on a mountain made of granite, so it was unknown how deep the well would need to be to tap into a reliable water source. But, after digging just sixty-five feet, we were able to access water—a miracle that was celebrated by all. After the well was dug, the kitchen moved from the opposite end of the compound closer to it. The new well ensured that our cooking, cleaning, laundry, and bathing routines could be carried out more easily.

While we continue to purchase clean drinking water to ensure the highest level of safety for our children, the well has been a true blessing. It has provided a steady, local source of water for our daily needs, helping to improve the quality of life for both our staff and the children we serve.

As we recognize World Water Day this year, we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our supporters. This project was made possible by a dedicated team of TRS supporters who saw the need and worked together to raise the funds that brought the well to life. Now, nearly seven years later, the well continues to bless our community with something so basic yet so vital—clean water.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
