Your Support Keeps Siblings Together at TRS

April 10th marks National Siblings Day.  It may not be recognized in Sierra Leone, but it does remind us of the importance of family and how that impacts our children at The Raining Season.  For more than fifteen years, hundreds of vulnerable children have found refuge at The Raining Season.  Our kids are all brothers and sisters in Christ.  However, because of your unwavering support, The Raining Season can also support and care for children in an important way by keeping siblings together.  Currently, The Covering is home to fifteen sibling groups, including three sets of twins and one set of triplets!  We are so grateful to be able to honor the importance of family and the connection these children share.

For many of the vulnerable children who are placed in our care by social welfare, their siblings are their only familiar connection.  They offer comfort, familiarity, and a shared history in the face of often unimaginable hardship.  This is why our commitment to keeping sibling groups together is so important.

Esther and her brother Ernest came to The Raining Season in 2019 when she was four years old.  For Esther, The Covering isn't just a shelter; it is the only home she truly remembers.  The stability and consistent care provided over the past five and a half years have allowed her to not only survive but thrive!  This sense of security is so important for the healing and growth we strive to foster, and Esther and Ernest get to do it together.

We are forever grateful for your support.  Your compassion allows us to foster the bonds between siblings like Zainab and Davida or twins Mary and Martha.   We recently shared about five siblings who could stay together because of The Raining Season.  You are helping us create a refuge where these siblings can flourish, providing a foundation of family support that will last far beyond their time at The Covering.

The Covering also allows us to provide a safe and nurturing home for siblings like Jacob, Mariama, and Deborah together.   Because of your support, The Raining Season offers a safe place to live, opportunity through education, nutritious food, essential medical care, and spiritual nurturing every day.

Thank you for supporting The Raining Season through sponsorship to ensure that, when needed, we can continue to care for siblings together.  Your support truly makes a difference.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
